Getting Found on the Internet

[ CONTENT IS KING ]

I'm asked often about getting listed on search engines. Whether you use Yahoo, Google, Bing, Safari, Opera, Firefox.... what gets your site listed is these browsers to crawl your site for content. The industry’s favorite acronym for how a site is found it SEO. Search Engine Optimization.

When it comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), content is truly king. You cannot optimize your marketing strategy’s search engine ranking without using the right kind of content.

Just what is SEO? It is the process in which the quality of a website’s traffic is improved to be noticed by search engines. When your sites or pages are noticed, they will rank higher in the search results. This means more people will find your website.

SEO brings in natural, organic traffic as opposed to paid strategies. This traffic can come from all kinds of internet searches including news, image, video, and keyword searches.

There is a very popular phrase that marketers like to use when talking about marketing. It is sometimes referred to as the ‘content is king quote’ and was made famous by Bill Gates. In this essay, he stated content is where he expects much of the real money will be made on the Internet, just as it was in broadcasting. – Bill Gates

Web crawls will pick up keyworks and meta tags but mainly content. The content on your site will draw search results. There is some technique to it and some things to aid it (SEO). Money also gets you listed. As can be seen with Google search results, the top-ranking results have the “Ad” notation next to them signifying it’s an advertisement that’s being paid for.

There are tools that force the web crawling of your website. For example Google has Web Master Tools. These days it’s called the  Search Console (Google it). With a Google login you can feed in your website(s) URL in to it, prove that its your site anf submit a sitemap pushing Google to crawl your site quickly to get search results. It can take weeks or maybe a month for results. What helps traffic to your site is social media pointing people to the site. Advertising pointing to the site. Business cards… anything you can to grow traffic and hits on the site helping its ranking. Google will also give you analytics so you can see what people are searching for when they find your website. This is so you can refine and add to your content even more.

Without pertainant content, your sites or pages cannot rank and be noticed. Naturally, your content needs to be relevant, high-quality, and well-created.

Simply put, content is the king when it comes to improving your site’s popularity with search engines such as Google.

Google’s algorithms are always evolving and changing to give users the best possible experience. If your content meets the requirements, it will be shown in search results. The more quality content you have, the more Google will like you.

So, if you’re goal is SEO, content marketing is the easiest way to get there. If you post constantly, your content will more likely get indexed, about 430% more likely compared to sites who publish nothing.

You will have to create articles and blogs and even social media content that uses keywords. But you can’t just fill your content with the keywords you think is most relevant to your target audience.

You must do it in a professional and well-written way. You don’t want to spam people with your SEO content, that will just put them off.

When you’ve optimized your content, you will increase the chances of your content getting ranked high in search results and reap the rewards from ensuring your content is king.
